uTorrent RSS Downloader Tutorial

Hey guys! In this tutorial, I will teach you how to set up the RSS downloader for uTorrent.

Requirements:

  1. Latest uTorrent (duhh)
  2. an RSS Feed
  3. Common sense

So let's get started! Fire up uTorrent and click the orange button as shown below.

Paste the URL of your RSS feed in the window that just popped up. If you don't have an RSS feed, go to www.tokyotosho.info and click on RSS as shown below:

Copy the URL and paste that in the box in uTorrent as shown below. You can leave the settings as they are. With Custom Alias you can give it a custom name so it doesn't appear as an entire URL in your list.

Now your feed has been added to the feed list. Right click on the feed you have just added and click RSS Downloader.

A new window will pop-up. This is the RSS Downloader. Here we will set up the filters for our download. Don't worry. It's really easy! Press add and type in the name of the show you want to download. This is just for your own personal reference.

Here is an example of a filter. Take a look at the screencap below and read the explanation below that.

So this is an example of what a filter would look like for the show B Gata H Kei. So the first field labeled "Filter" will look for the keywords coalguys and gata in the filename of the torrent. The reason I wrapped the words in asterisks (*) is because I don't care what the words are around my keywords are. If I didn't put the asterisks, uTorrent would have searched for the filename "coalguys gata." That obviously doesn't exist and we don't want that. We want uTorrent to find a filename with the words "coalguys" and "gata" in them. Therefore the words are wrapped in asterisks which tells uTorrent to download any file with the words "coalguys" and "gata" in them in that order (order is important).

So to simply it a bit: *subgroup*name*of*show*

This would be the right set up. Put * where there are spaces just to be on the safe side. You can also include the file extension in the filter.

Now since we at AK don't upload xvid we use the "Not" filter to exclude any filename with the word "xvid" in it. Therefore we wrap it in asterisks.

After those 2 fields, select where you want the show to be saved.

Leave everything else as it is but select the "Filter matches original name" checkbox. I have no idea what that exactly does, but it has to be enabled. Now press close. It saves as your settings as you type them.

You're done!
