Thought this could be a useful thread to have for future reference if anyone needed it...

but first I NEED IT

Just got the iphone and other than manga rock is there a decent manga app on the appstore? cause manga rock doesn't even hold a candle to mango from the android market, i need a something to replace mango! and so far there's nothing eye-catching on the appstore of which i had a quick glance at. Care to help peeps? I also wouln't mind some site recomendations as well that's mobile friendly to take over missing manga from the app on the phone...what crazy world are we living in when To Love-Ru Darkness isn't even on the list! tell me!?

das ist all

*starts developing a manga app... well maybe*

I have never heard of any manga app for the iphone. Perhaps you should try mailing the dev of the mango app to see if he can port it. Otherwise I can't help :(

I reckon you should, just so i can keep up with my manga on the go :P

I'm not really that surprised you haven't, there's jack on the app store (so much for their HUUUUUGE APP STORE over android) the apps they have are all crap, basic, barely listing any mangas you'd think would be listed. Manga Rock is the most competent so far but it lacks certain updates in its chapters. The thing about mango is that they pull chapters straight from the site aka mangafox, mangareader etc.

I've already sent a message over 2 weeks ago to the mango developer, out of curiosity would it be easy for him to move the app to the app store from android?

He first needs to pay $100 to become a developer over at apple (which is free at google) and then he needs to port it to apple hardware/software. It won't run, he needs to make modifications and recompile it. But not many otaku have iphones. You're just an exception :troll:

I've been using komikconnect which is made by the same guys that made manga rock...I mean...I don't know why you don't like it so I can't really say what is better but...Komikconnect kinda pulls together mangable mangafox mangareader and another I forget so the database is pretty large...just the whole adding to bookmark parts though is annoying.

@Cheers m8 i checked it out i know what you mean about the bookmark thing that is weird...but yh still i kinda find it alright atleast all my manga is in one app, i reckon it just needs to be vamped up interface wise a little because the mangarock apps interface is way better, i dnt get it why they're soo different when they're from the same people :S

Bleh never did see the thread being updated my bad...I'm just thinking though since I gave mangafox a go and have komikconnect I wonder why the features of the apps are not the same...like as we both agreed the stupid dang bookmarks thing take getting used to but....the thing I really liked about mangafox (more the only thing I like about it actually) is the ability to download and store and queue stuff but.....komikconnect doesn't have it.../wrist

Does anyone have any other recommendation?

Oh and quick question to the droid users out there. I saw the Motorola Xoom at a really good price so I've been itching to get one but naturally since I have an iphone the issue of apps and what I may have to re-buy or find similar products to pop up...So question is
any good manga viewing apps on the droid? :P
Is a droid worth it assuming have had an iphone for 18 months and have gotten a sizeable collection of apps? or save money for the pad?

I've found 'Manga Browser, downloader, Reader' or 'manga bdr' to be waay better then the rest of them man, to get the manga is a little bit of a pain but you get to use all the sources you want and you can do download now and read later stuff as well. There's a lite version that you can check out.

ANDROID!!! I miss my droid soo much! trust me its a platform thats gone far beyond iphone, the only app i will recommend because it's the only one you'll need is 'Manga Browser' it's kick ass, best app i've ever used for manga. As for other things, i think you'll find the adroid market has reached up to the ridiculous scale, i prefer it to appstore as you get a lot more high level apps for free, if you can put asside the lack of games compared to the iphone it has, in my opinion a better and cheaper market. Stuff there are a lot cheaper then on the iphone and i think you might like the widgets as well they're pretty cool, but be warned if you have too many your phone will get drunk and hung over on battery juice. All in all if you had an iphone and not yet an android i'd try and get both experiances. I myself moved from android to iphone just a couple of months ago, but still even though it seems like im a major droid boy the iphone does have its perks, don't get me wrong analyse things like an adult rather as a kid, tech is tech...now excuse me while i post some boobies..haha..boooobies :troll:

boobiiesssssssssssssssssssssss <3
nah I did end up getting a droid tab just to play around with but (it's on the other thread I made asking about droids earlier this week) the problem I ran into is...because I am currently in China for a holiday I bought it here thinking it was a great bargain...and it's handicapped to only the China app store which.....sucks....and I am chinese terribad ..../wrist...trying to learn how to jailbreak the damn thing now

Edit: I listened to your advice and gave Manga BDR a shot...good app I think the problem is as you said adding the manga to the list is a pain in the ass for sure since you have to navigate each site to add (and doing it on the iphone is infinitely worse than the pad)....a lack of sorting the manga you add after is also a pain but once you get the hang of it it is pretty good...thanks for the tip :)
